這兩顆圓圓的綠色球是鼻屎放大圖嗎？那是鼻病毒(rhinovirus)，是我們感冒的原因。不過科學家新發現的鼻病毒 C 型（圖右）的表面長得跟 A 型（圖左）不太一樣，這使得過往針對 A 與 B 兩型的藥物對 C 型沒有作用。
拜基因科技所賜，科學家在近幾年才發現 C 型鼻病毒。也因為 C 型的現身，科學家才瞭解到為什麼有超過三成的感冒用藥治不好。雖然想當然爾接下來就是好好把 C 型研究一番就萬事 ok ，不過科學家還要先解決一個問題才行：目前還無法在實驗室培養 C 型病毒供做研究用。
