惡性腦瘤是戲劇八點檔中常見的劇情殺，當發生在現實生活，就成為家庭惡夢的開始。膠質母細胞瘤（Glioblastoma multiforme，簡寫為GBM）是最常見的惡性中樞神經系統腫瘤，臨床症狀包括頭痛、頭暈、記憶衰退、語言障礙、認知缺損、感覺異常、肢體無力、癲癇發作，以及嚴重的意識昏迷，如知名美國共和黨參議員、前總統候選人馬侃(John McCain)、資深名嘴陳立宏皆因膠質母細胞瘤相繼癌逝。
前台灣神經腫瘤學學會理事長，新北市立土城醫院魏國珍副院長表示，膠質母細胞瘤好發於男性，診斷時的中位數年齡為64歲，正是退休該享清福的年紀。根據癌登資料顯示，台灣近7年間新診斷膠質母細胞瘤患者數成長近2成，根據研究顯示膠質母細胞瘤患者即便接受手術切除腫瘤，同步化療放療、標靶治療三管齊下，總體存活期仍難超過1年半。這是由於膠質母細胞瘤異質性高、復發率高且因血腦屏障存在，使得藥物治療選擇有限，罹患此疾病等於是面臨「絕命終結站」，因此醫界投入大量資源尋求創新治療的聖杯。
今(2023)年5月獲衛福部核准即將在台供貨上市的創新「腫瘤電場治療」，獲頒譽有以色列諾貝爾獎之稱的開創性癌症治療大獎。打破過往癌症治療困境，讓膠質母細胞瘤患者五年存活率倍增！創新「腫瘤電場治療」由以色列理工學院生理學和生物物理學名譽教授Professor Yoram Palti, MD., PhD. 所研發，為一套可攜式醫療裝置，隨時、隨地、隨身抑制癌細胞分裂，宛如一台「惡性腫瘤時間停止器」。再鼎台灣醫藥黃偉毅總經理指出，只要在頭部貼上4片治療電極貼片，即可對膠質母細胞瘤發射治療電場，持續控制腫瘤生長。自2011年美國FDA核准上市後，全球已有超過25,000位患者受惠於此創新治療。
魏國珍副院長解釋根據第三期臨床試驗結果，使用創新「腫瘤電場治療」搭配化療，患者兩年存活率接近五成，而五年存活率相較單用化療更從5%倍增至13%，為癌症領域治療帶來新曙光。創新「腫瘤電場治療」核准適應症為已接受手術、放射治療及標靶藥物治療的新確診或復發性成年膠質母細胞瘤患者。有別於以往治療方式患者需頻繁奔波往返醫院，創新「腫瘤電場治療」操作簡易，可隨身治療。黃偉毅總經理提及再鼎台灣醫藥針對接受創新「腫瘤電場治療」的患者及照顧者，提供『愛護專員』衛教護理師全年無休的諮詢服務，排除操作上的各種問題，讓患者可正常生活外出上班、戶外運動行動不受限，隨身隨時隨地抑制腫瘤生長，更保有良好生活品質、認知及情緒。
