美國布魯克林藝術家菲利普斯（Cara Phillips）最近展出「紫外線美女」（Ultraviolet Beauties）攝影展，她利用紫外線攝影法將模特兒皮膚底層的斑點與瑕疵暴露出來，這些因長期曝曬造成的皮膚損傷，一般人眼無法辨識出。
在哈芬登郵報（The Huffington Post）的採訪中，菲利普斯談起她開始拍照的靈感，來自皮膚科診所看到的醫療用頭像，她開始在紐約街頭邀請路人當她的模特兒。而這些相片真實的呈現出皮膚底下的缺陷，並讓人了解待在陽光底下太久的後果。
當我們的身體與臉部若時間曝曬於陽光底下，皮膚會產生黑色素，皮膚的表面會積聚一塊塊黑褐色斑點，這就是臉上常見的雀斑、太陽斑和其它褐色斑點。以紫外線攝影法來拍攝，能將尚未浮現在皮膚表層的斑點展現出來。
但必須強調這些照片顯示太陽對皮膚的傷害，並非是皮膚癌或癌初期病變的徵兆，照片也呈現皮膚白皙者，皮膚損害的程度較深色皮膚者嚴重。另外若皮膚曾遭受陽光，也會增加斑點的大小與聚集程度。
東方人皮膚偏黃，發生皮膚癌的機率比起白種人少了許多，但卻也因此容易忽視陽光的危險性，防曬也常要擦不擦，希望看完這些照片，能給大家一些警惕。
