【早安健康新聞中心】年紀大,腰彎不下去,柔軟度不好,看似是正常的老化過程,但根據臺大北護分院最新研究顯示,這個觀念可能需要修正了!老年人柔軟度不佳,可能代表健康發出警訊,同時與代謝症候群有明顯相關。
北護分院復健科張凱閔醫師表示,代謝症候群是許多慢性疾病的前兆,與腦中風、高血壓、糖尿病等疾病有很大的關連。然而,診斷是否罹患代謝症候群,需要量腰圍及血壓,以及抽血測血糖、高密度脂蛋白膽固醇與三酸甘油脂,若有三項(含)以上有問題者,才可確診為代謝症候群。
最近台大北護分院銀髮族體適能研究團隊,在628位平均年齡為72.2歲的老年受試者中,測量其身體組成、肌耐力、心肺功能等體適能指標,發現柔軟度不佳,與代謝症候群具有顯著相關,同時柔軟度越差者,腰圍越粗大。該項成果,也獲得國外學者的肯定,已經於2015年1月發表在著名的公共科學圖書館期刊(PLOS One)上。.
北護分院醫療部韓德生主任指出,北護分院體適能檢測服務已實行多年,累積相當多臨床資料,未來將進一步針對柔軟度不足老人施予伸展運動訓練,以驗證其對老人健康所扮演的角色。另外也呼籲老人要多走多動,即使是拉拉筋都會有助於健康老化。
曾任中華民國骨質疏鬆醫學會理事長,目前也是北護分院院長的蔡克嵩教授說明,老年人骨質密度會流失很快,若跌倒後很容易造成相關部位的骨折,甚至會提高死亡率,所以在預防骨質疏鬆的建議中,常也會建議民眾多運動,增加身體柔軟度及肌肉力量。因此,建議老年人務必要多做適量的運動。
