之前大家對喝酒的印象，都是以男性居多，但是隨著兩性越來越平等，也有越來越多的女性喜歡小酌 1 杯，尤其又有健康訊息表示，每天小酌 1 杯酒，可以保護心血管、預防心血管疾病。但是，美國最近有研究發現，年輕女性若是每天喝酒，將會大幅提高罹患乳癌的機率，研究刊登在《Journal of the National Cancer Institute》（國家癌症研究所期刊）。
美國華盛頓大學醫學院巴恩茲猶太醫院賽特曼癌症中心癌症防治副主任 Graham Colditz 表示，這個研究是根據美國 1989 年到 2009 年這 10 年間，91,005 名媽媽們所做的長期追蹤的大型研究。
Graham Colditz 進一步說明，女性若是從青少年初經時期至初次足月懷孕時期就每天有喝一點酒的習慣，她們罹患乳癌的風險將會比沒有飲酒習慣的女性增加 13％。另外，有飲酒習慣的女性，罹患增生性良性乳房疾病的機率，也會跟著提高 15％。
那麼喝什麼酒有關係嗎？研究人員表示，研究發現不論是喝啤酒、葡萄酒、紅酒、白酒或是其他的烈酒，都沒有影響罹患乳癌的機率，只要每天多喝 1 杯酒，增加罹患良性增生性乳房疾病風險就會增加 15％ 之多。

研究者分析，乳癌與乳房組織過度增生，通常和體內的雌激素過度刺激有關係。因為在乳房發育的初期到第一次懷孕期間，乳房是進入完全的發育狀態，這個階段也是乳房組織密集成長的時候，乳房組織對於女性荷爾蒙，即雌激素非常敏感；許多乳癌病例都被發現是受到雌激素刺激而產生的，由於酒精會影響雌激素的分泌，因此可以間接說明酒精與乳癌發生之間的關係。
Graham Colditz 憂心的說，美國現在的大學甚至是高中，常常看見很多女學生經常喝酒，不過卻很少有人知道年輕就開始飲酒所帶來的健康風險。由於這次的研究結果已經是非常明顯指出酒精和乳癌之間的關連性，所以，奉勸年輕女性，若想要更健康、遠離乳癌的威脅，還是趁早戒除喝酒的習慣吧！
