哦！這麼快，夏天又到了。在過敏疾病盛行的今日，雖然夏天是氣喘兒最少發作、最快樂的時光，也是鼻子過敏兒症狀最輕微的季節，但卻是異位性皮膚炎兒最煩惱、最難過的日子。由於氣溫的高升，體內調整體溫的組織器官也跟著忙碌起來，尤其是汗腺，更是不停的工作，使得汗流浹背，全身濕濕黏黏的，渾身不舒服。汗水刺激皮膚，加重皮膚紅疹發炎與搔癢的程度。
異位性皮膚炎是指對某些物質過敏而導致身體免疫系統或是局部的皮膚反應而產生慢性的皮膚發炎病變。嬰幼兒期異位性皮膚炎的小紅疹與小水泡常見於臉部前額、兩邊臉頰、頸部、軀幹與四肢伸側面，嚴重時會遍佈全身，這種疹子會有搔癢的感覺，讓寶寶煩躁不安、睡不安穩，影響生活品質與成長發育。
皮膚炎與其他疾病一樣，最注重的是預防。居家照顧護理上最重要就是清潔工作。而清潔用品的選擇是最重要的重點之一，選擇上應避免鹼性以及含過敏原成分的清潔用品，因此，選擇時仔細看清潔劑的成分與酸鹼值，應以弱酸性無過敏原的用品為宜。當皮膚發炎出現紅疹或水泡時，最好用含有燕麥成分所製成的清潔劑清洗，可減少皮膚的刺激，防止皮膚發炎。清潔工作完成後，適度的抹上具有保濕與細胞修護功能的保養品，並給予適度的肌膚按摩，可以促進皮膚的代謝與修護，加速皮膚的復原。
另外，應盡量避免日曬與減少流汗的活動。如要外出也必須做好防曬的工作，擦抹適合寶寶的防曬品與穿戴防護用品。流汗時應盡速以清水沖洗汗水，若無法立即沖洗也應用無刺激性或香料的拭紙或毛巾清理，並盡量保持皮膚的乾燥清爽。
夏天是嬰幼兒異位性皮膚炎發作較嚴重的日子，唯有盡量減少外出，在控溫的室內中減少流汗的程度。但是，做好事前的預防工作，必能讓每個寶寶不再為了天氣熱加重皮膚發炎而煩惱。
