55 歲的何先生，日前眼睛發紅，手一揉眼睛就痛，且雙眼的視野都霧茫茫，眼前就像有一層黑幕罩住，直到視力模糊無法開車，至醫院檢查發現罹患葡萄膜炎，且眼睛已蓄膿沾黏，嚴重影響視力，所幸及時接受手術，才避免視網膜剝離造成失明的危機。
收治病患的台北慈濟醫院眼科主治醫師蔡明霖指出，該患者有僵直性脊椎炎的病史，紅眼睛情形持續兩周之久，雙眼也反覆發炎 2、3 次，進一步檢查發現視力僅剩 0.05，確診罹患葡萄膜炎，並誘發白內障合併青光眼，必須立即接受手術。
蔡明霖進行手術時，除了將眼睛沾黏處分離，眼內造口、引流房水、降低眼壓外，同時以新式微創白內障、青光眼合併手術，搭配後囊保護術，置換人工水晶體摘除白內障，讓視力回復至 0.7。
蔡明霖表示，初期葡萄膜炎多會給予類固醇來壓制發炎反應，並給予降眼壓藥劑、瞳孔放大劑或睫狀肌麻痺劑減少疼痛感；若併發白內障及青光眼，則需要進一步以手術治療。他提醒民眾，若眼睛有出現怕光、刺痛感、眼睛紅、視力模糊等症狀時，最好進一步接受檢查。
