婦產科門診常見媽媽帶著年輕的女兒施打子宮頸癌疫苗，其實媽媽自己也應該施打！不過，醫師觀察發現，多數婦女工作忙碌，無法在半年內完整接種，而影響疫苗效果；醫師建議，最好利用產後期間施打，不僅不會影響哺乳，也幾乎沒有副作用。
台北慈濟醫院婦產科主治醫師陳怡伶指出，根據研究顯示，子宮頸癌疫苗對於有過性經驗，但沒有感染人類乳突病毒的熟女，同樣具有保護力。施打疫苗的抗體濃度，明顯高於感染人類乳突病毒後，人體自然產生的抗體濃度。
陳怡伶表示，子宮頸癌主要是由人類乳突病毒 16 及 18 型感染，大多數人不會同時感染，就算已感染到其中一種病毒，疫苗對於未感染的病毒仍具有預防作用。
子宮頸癌疫苗需在半年內施打 3 劑，效果最好。陳怡伶觀察發現，有些婦女因工作忙碌或遺忘，導致施打順服性不佳，進而影響疫苗效果，建議產後期間正是施打的好時機，可在生產出院前施打第一劑，產後 1 個月回診時施打第二劑，半年後回診施打第三劑，並作抹片檢查。
