洗手乳細菌超標？問題其實出在容器長久未清潔，尤其為了環保買補充包倒進去，或是大瓶倒進小瓶，結果細菌反而有更多時間繁殖。解決之道是洗手乳的容器應定期清潔，晾乾後再裝新的洗手乳，或是用密封包裝洗手乳，用完就丟，根本杜絕細菌滋生。
洗手乳不但在公共場所，一般家庭也漸漸取代肥皂而普及，不管是否是抗菌成份，其實都潛藏細菌滋生的溫床。只要是罐裝或掛在牆上等按壓式容器，清潔人員或家庭成員一般都是看快用完了，就直接用補充包或大瓶添加，結果洗手乳是新的，容器卻一直沒變，無數人按壓容器，結果帶來細菌、又有足夠時間繁殖，雖然用洗手乳洗了手，但反而有可能透過手把細菌吃下肚。
食品藥物管理署表示，因台灣氣候潮濕，即使像洗手乳，開封後應盡速使用完畢，公共場所或一般家庭應注意清潔洗手乳的容器，不要一直用補充包或大瓶洗手乳添加，而應該先定期清洗容器，並且將容器晾乾，再重新裝填洗手乳，即使洗手乳含抗菌成分，亦需遵循此原則處理，以防範細菌滋生。或是買密封包裝洗手乳，用完即丟，或是感應式給皂器，減少細菌滋生的機會。
此外，正確濕洗手步驟包括取皂、搓揉、沖水和擦乾手部，大約需要 40-60秒；並應擦乾雙手。
